(By Iheanyi Ezinwo)-In spite of the submission of the name of Tonye Cole as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State in the 2019 governorship election, Senator Magnus Abe has maintained that he is the preferred choice and that efforts to subvert the political process and scheme him out are doomed to fail.
Abe, who was responding to sundry allegations he described as campaign of hate and calumny, noted that his political opponents are threatened by the unprecedented numbers of APC members who came out to receive his team anywhere he visited, hence the desperation to discredit him and truncate his governorship aspiration.
The senator representing Rivers South East in the National Assembly, said that there is a lot of bitterness among members of the APC in the state towards the leadership, and that the politics of Rivers state has degenerated to all time low that “we must change the narrative and do things differently”.
The Ogoni born politician reiterated his commitment to inherit his father’s friends and make his own enemies, while urging Rivers people not to kill one another, as according to him, “anyone who fails to listen to reason and drags the state back to the violence of 2015, should be ready to face the collective wrath of Rivers people”.
It would be recalled that Senator Abe is in court demanding that he be recognized as the authentic governorship candidate of the party in Rivers State, and the last is yet to be heard about the suit and others actions by aggrieved party members of the APC in Rivers State.
