(By Chioma Peters)-The performance of Governor Nyesom Wike in infrastructural development – in form of utility projects, is an eloquent testimony that the political landscape of Rivers State is guaranteed for what ever political ambition or desire that he may have, and that Rivers people, who are solidly behind the governor and will resist any attempt, not only to intimidate him but the people of Rivers State.
This observation was made by the Special Adviser to Rivers State Governor on Political Matters and Strategy, Barr. Emeh Glory Emeh, on Thursday at Isiokpo on the sidelines of the commissioning of internal roads by Nigeria’s former vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, adding that, “It goes in the natural progression that the issue of 2019 guber re-election should be considered adequately prepared and good to go”
Chief Emeh, a former commissioner for transport and aviation during the administration of Sir. Peter Odili noted that the roads in Isiokpo were in a deplorable condition because of neglect from the immediate past administration of Rotimi Amaechi in the state, giving Isiokpo, the first capital of Ikwerre ethnic nationality, a negative description of asumba, meaning uncivilized people, people at the back, before the coming of the administration of Governor Wike.
Barr. Emeh further said: “You don’t need to be told that Governor Wike is re-writing history. You are seeing for yourself the excitement of the people of this great kingdom, and by extension people of Ikwerre Local Government Area.
“For us in government, working with Governor Wike and indeed the vast majority of Rivers people, we shall remain eternally grateful to God for the favour of giving us a leader that has emotionally and physically attached to the people.
“We are proud that no less personality than former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar is here to carry the good news of the good works of Governor Wike to the glory of God”, the political strategist emphasized.
He further reasoned that the confidence of those who mean well for Rivers State is derived from the unprecedented performance of the governor, the reason, according to him, “individuals and groups are standing up to be counted in the journey for Wike to continue in the Brick House up to 2023”, even as he noted that journalists have also given the governor credits for significantly changing the narratives of development in the state.
