2023: Presidential Election: Activist Describes Endorsement Of Peter Obi By Obasanjo As Bad Omen …. Only Uninformed Politicians Will Celebrate Said Endorsement As Atiku Remains Candidate That Can Recover Nigeria

The new year endorsement of Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of Labour Party in Nigeria’s 2023 Presidential election by former President Olusegun Obasanjo has been described as the height of presumption, and a bad omen for the Presidential ambition of Peter Obi.

This observation, like many other reactions, coming after the new year declaration by Nigeria’s former president, was made by Douglas I Alexander, a political activist and spokesman for Continental Network Group, who recalled how all the politicians that were ever endorsed by the former President had failed.

He further said: “Electoral process in Nigeria as well as globally have since gone past blind theoretical permutations of adoption and endorsement by an individual sitting in the comforts of his living room.

“We have passed the stage of relying on speculations of the old school on such very important matter involving the future of a great country like Nigeria, that is currently being threatened by over seven years maladministration under the All Progressives Congress, and urgently in need of redemption.

” That personal opinion of Nigeria’s former leader was probably expressed without regard to the intendment of the Electoral Law 2022, which provides the modus operandi for making a President in 2023. It is therefore an effort in futility and a waste of time.

THERE ARE INDICATIONS THAT WHATEVER MODEST GAINS THAT  PETER OBI MIGHT HAVE RECORDED OVER TIME HAVE BEEN LOST BY THE SAID ENDORSEMENT OF THE FORMER PRESIDEN WHICH, TO ALL  INTENTS ANDAPURPOSESPWILL BECOMEURPOSES WILL BECOME A LIABILITY RATHER THAN A BLESSING TO THE ASPIRATION OF PETER OBI

“If the opinion of a candidate’s former political boss is a measure of his or her acceptability, then people like Governor Nyesom Wike, who was not endorsed by his predecessor, former Governor Rotimi Amaechi, would not have been the Governor of Rivers State.

“In the same token, if working with somebody for eight years qualifies him or her to be recommended as successor, why then did Wike abandon his Deputy, Dr. Mrs. Ipalibo Banigo – Harry for Sim Fubara.

“Wike’s conclusion from the mere fact that Obasanjo expressed his opinion on the candidature of Peter Obi says volumes of his own understanding of what endorsement itself is in politics”, the activist stressed, adding that Atiku’s chances of being sworn in as President of Nigeria in May 2023 is as certain as the Northern star.
