2023 Rivers  Guber:  Wike  Gives Green Light To Emeka Woke, Obuah, Danagogo, Opara,  Maeba To  Start Consultations

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has lifted his ban on political consultations in the state ahead of the 2023 elections that will throw up his successor.

Speaking in Port Harcourt on Monday when party leaders called to celebrate with him on his birthday anniversary, the governor advised that the consultations should be  with party leaders and that at the end,  the leaders will sit down to consider their options and  take a decision on who will bear the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,  governorship ticket ahead of the 2023 election.

It would be recalled that Engr. Emeka Woke, Rt. Hon. Austin Opara, Dr. Tammy  Danagago, Bro. Felix  Obuah and Senator Lee Maeba have been touted at one time or the other as possible successors of  Governor Wike. Also said to be  in the list of  those eyeing the number one office in the state are Senator George Sekibo, Engr.Tele Ikuru and Dr. Abiye Sekibo among others.

With the coast now  clear for open for those with ambition to take over Governor Wike’s seat to commence consultations, it is only a matter of time before a flag bearer emerges, who will have to contend with the wounded  All Progressives Congress in 2023.

Meanwhile, political analysts who spoke with Notable Outcome in Port Harcourt on Monday said  that loyalty to the party, relevant experience of the candidate and  the  performance of Governor Wike at the National Convention of  the PDP  are factors that may combine to  determine who emerges the flag bearer of the PDP governor ship ticket in the state.
