President Muhammadu Buhari

(By Chris K.Amadi)-Chief Seriake Dickson, governor of Bayelsa state and his candidate, Senator Douye Diri were on Saturday humiliated by the All Progressives Congress candidate, David Lyon, in the governorship election of that state.
Reacting to the outcome of the election as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, Bayelsans accross party lines said the outcome reflected the wishes of the vast majority.

They said the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party candidate lost because the party went into batte as a divided house, hence the predictable win of the APC.

Responding after he was declared winner of the election, David Lyon lauded Bayelsan for standing by him ,assuring that Bayelsa state will rise again under his watch.

It will be recalled that Lyon of APC won in six local government areas of Brass; Nembe; Ogbia, Southern Ijaw, Ekeremor and Yenagoa while the Seriake Dickson and his candidate won in the Sagbama and Kolokuma/Opokuma.

By David Lyon’s victory, PDP has lost in the governorship election in Bayelsa state for the first time since 1999, and in almost in the same manner that the party lost power at the centre, when General Muhamadu Buhari defeated then President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.
