Former Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II

(By Odogo Woke) – Nigeria’s former vice president, Atiku Abubakar has reported that one of his sons have tested positive to corona virus, and that he is receiving treatment at Gwagwalada Specialist Teaching Hospital in Abuja. The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 presidential election disclosed this development via his twitter handle on Sunday.

Meanwhile, some youths from the northern part of Nigeria, who claimed to have supported President Muhamadu Buhari in 2015 have again flagged off campaign for the election of the deposed emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, as Nigeria’s president in 2023.

Speaking over the weekend in Kaduna, the national coordinator of the ‘Sanusi Lamido Sanusi project 2023’, Suleiman Shuaibu Shinkaffi, said Nigeria is sinking and was in urgent need for people with the vast experiences of Sanusi to be able to regain her lost glory.

The group insists that they are ready to compel the deposed emir to agree to run for the presidency in 2023, should he be seen to be unwilling to accept the challenge.

Shinkafi was reported by Nigerian Tribune as saying: “We’re All Nigerian Youths agitating for Sanusi. With the situation in the country now, only credible and stainless candidate will be acceptable to all. And we believe that Sanusi is acceptable to all and intellectually sound to turn things around in this country.

“Nigeria is a sinking ship and needs someone of high intellectual ability like him to rescue the country. Baba Buhari has done his best”, jus as he emphasized that the movement is ready to give Sanusi the same support they gave Buhari in 2015.

“We are ready to contribute money to sponsor his campaign, buy his nomination form, recharge cards, provide logistics, among other things, so that he would emerge as Nigeria’s president in 2023”, even as he said that they were calling on Sanusi to come out and contest for president
