(By Silas Ofori) -Alumni of Government Secondary School Emohua in the Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State Tuesday donated writing desks to the school as part of activities marking the 40th anniversary of the school.
The former students, who had earlier paid a courtesy call on the paramount ruler of Emohua, His Royal Majesty, Eze V.C. Okor where the royal father was briefed on the 40th anniversary celebration, later advised the students of Government Secondary School Emohua to be committed to their studies and shun anti social activities in order to become worthy ambassadors of the school and of their families.
Speaking as chairman of the occasion, Mr. Chidi Orlu, an alumni of the school assured the students of more chairs and other forms of support from the alumni association so as to improve the learning environment at the school.
Also speaking at the occasion that featured presentations by the students, principal of the Senior Secondary arm of the school, Mrs.Esther Okogbule thanked the alumni association for their thoughtful visit and donations, urging them to use their esteemed offices and positions in the society to assist the school regain its lost glory.
She listed their needs to include additional class room blocks, fencing of the school, rehabilitation of dilapidated structures, portable water, first aid box and library.
While echoing that students of today are leaders of tomorrow, Mrs. Esther Okogbule harped on the need for a conducive environment to raise them adequately to fit in that role.
A sizable number of former students of the school were present at the event.
