The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress that has been embroiled in leadership crisis since after the removal of Adams Oshiomhole following a court order has been dissolved and Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, appointed to lead the new Caretaker of the Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee for the party. The decision of the party followed the recommendation of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Speaking at the National Executive Committee meeting that had Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, governors and memebers of the National Assembly in attendance and on Thursday, President Muhammadu Buhari harped on the need for the enforcement of party discipline while condemning the recent crisis in the party.
He called for the ratification of APC’s governorship primary election conducted in Edo State, even as he called for the suspension of all pending litigations involving the party and its members.
With the current development, control of the APC has been handed to the governors who will now dictate who gets what, bringing to an end the era of free for all as vested interests positioned foot soldiers to secure the party’s presidential ticket for the 2023 election.
Meanwhile, former governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, has died at the age of 70 following some health complications. He was chosen to act as national chairman of the party after the removal of Adams Oshiomhole but he never recovered to act in that position until his death and dissolution of the NWC today.
