Association Raises Alarm Over Questionable Take Over Of West African Glass Industries

(By Chris K. Amadi)-The Chemical and Non Metalic Products Senior Staff Association, CANMPSSA, West African Glass Industries, WAGI, branch in Port Harcourt have raised alarm over what they consider irregular takeover of ownership of West African Glass Industries by some persons who claim to have purchased the company.

In a press briefing in Port Harcourt over the week end, the chairman of CANMPSSA, WAGI branch, Mr. D. Agbozu alleged that those who procured judgment from the National Industrial Court at Enugu are impostors, as according to him, “Mr. Kany is not the Vice Chairman of CANMPSSA; he is not even in the executive committee”, and so lacked the capacity to act on behalf of the Association.

They are therefore calling on the owners of West African Glass Industries, Rivers and Bayelsa States Governments to resist the alleged unlawful attempt to buy and sell the company through a process that is not known to law.
While also demanding that Mr. Kany be brought to justice, the Chemical and Non Metalic Products Senior Staff Association, West African Glass Industries branch also insisted that those occupying the company be made to vacate immediately to allow legal processes run its course.

Attempts to reach Mr. Kany for comments was not successful.
