Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State

Ayo Fayose Considering Leaving PDP Over Failure Of Tambuwal To Win Presidential Ticket

The outgoing governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayo Fayose has announced that he is considering dumping the Peoples Democratic Party, because of  failure of  the Sokoto Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, his preferred candidate to  emerge as the presidential candidate of the PDP in Port Harcourt over the week end.

The Ekiti governor gave this indication in a statement he issued  on Monday in Ado Ekiti,  while reacting to the outcome of the primary election.

The  outgoing governor  was reported as lamenting the  loss which appears  almost unbearable  to him and his supporters, a development which some analysts who spoke to Notable Outcome in Port Harcourt  said they are suspecting that this action could be a clever  strategy to attract the attention of the emergent beneficiaries of the National Convention for possible negotiations:

“We have no regret aligning with Governor Wike to support Governor Tambuwal for the presidential ticket. We have no apologies either.

“We kept the party alive and strong when most men became ladies. We never compromised. If any group feels it can do it alone, we will see how far they can go

“I may renounce my membership of the party, if the need arises

“In the main time, myself and others will continue with our consultations while watching the turn of events.

“We cannot but appreciate leaders that have intervened so far, but this release became necessary to avoid fresh crisis or misrepresentation.”
