President Muhammadu Buhari

(By Chris K.Amadi)-The President Muhammadu Buhari has bypassed Matthew Seiyefa, Acting Director General, DG, of Department of State Service, DSS, an indigene of Bayelsa State who stepped in as the most senior Director in the Department of State Service, DSS, on acting capacity as Director General of DSS last month after the sack of Daura, and has appointed Mr. Yusuf Magaji Bichi as new Director-General of DSS.

A statement issued by Garba Shehu, spokesman of the president says the appointment is with effect from Friday, while explaining among others that:

“He attended Danbatta Secondary School, the Kano State College of Advanced Studies and the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he graduated with a degree in Political Science.

“The new Director-General began his career in the security division of the Cabinet Office in Kano, from where he joined the defunct Nigerian Security Organization (NSO), the precursor of the present DSS”.

Meanwhile, citizens who had expected the president to confirm the appointment of Matthew Seiyefa, from Bayelsa state, south south Nigeria as a way of spreading appointments and giving other parts of the country a sense of belonging in the Nigerian project were disappointed as the Bayelsan was shoved aside and  Bichi, someone from the  north appointed as the new DG of DSS.
