Written by Notable Outcome

(By Silas Ofori)- Close to three months after the new year year’s eve killings of worshippers who were returning from cross over night and other residents of Omoku in the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, President Muhammadu Buhari is billed to visit Rivers State to see things for himself and also condole with relations of the close to 20 persons who lost their lives in the cult attack.
Indications of the president’s visit was given by the Special Adviser to the president on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, who a statement on Monday said that the President will visit areas that have been affected by wanton attacks and killings.
Other states to be visited include Yobe where over 100 school girls were kidnapped last month, Benue state where over 70 were killed in January, Taraba and Zamfara where many reportedly lost and are still losing their lives in bold attacks by herdsmen.
It would be recalled that, many Nigerians have accused the president of insensitivity to the plight of Nigerians by attending a wedding party in Kano when many Nigerian families were mourning the loss of their properties and loved ones in herdsmen and other terrorists attacks.
Adesina’s statement read in part:
“From today, March 5, he will visit Taraba, and subsequently Benue, Yobe, Zamfara and Rivers States.
“President Buhari has been receiving daily briefings, and has been in constant touch with the Governors, and has been updated with situation reports.
“The President has therefore called on all Nigerians especially those in the affected areas to cooperate fully with the Security Agencies to enable them to curb the spate of crimes, bring those responsible to justice and prevent further occurrences”, he stated.
Meanwhile, public affairs analysts in Port Harcourt are not impressed with the  management of Nigeria’s security system. According to them, whereas the alleged masterminds of the new year eve’s killings in Rivers State, Don Wanni has been promptly arrested and killed, and the same treatment was subsequently given to some of his gang members, the herdsmen who are responsible for the wanton killings in Plateau, Benue, Taraba, Southern Kaduna, Zamfara states are yet to be apprehended.
