(By Chris K. Amadi) – While the dust over the sudden demise of late chief of staff to President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria, Abba Kyari, who passed on Friday, April 17,was yet to settle, one of the body guards of the president, Warrant Officer Lawal Mato, has also passed on.
While Kyari died of coronavirus, the security operative succumbed to diabetes. information on the passing of the body guard was contained in statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, who confirmed that the late Warrant Officer Lawal Mato died on Tuesday after three years battle with diabetes.
The statement further disclosed that Mato had been working with President Buhari before the election in 2015, just as the president is said to have mourned and described the late warrant officer as a “very thorough, trustworthy and dependable soldier who carried out his duty with diligence and focus”.
Garba Shehu added that the late Mato had been off full duty for three years, treating diabetes.
