Chief Judge Appointment: Justice  Amadi Will Consolidate Gains Of  Justice Laminkara

(By Iheanyi Ezinwo) – The appointment of Justice S.C. Amadi as a replacement of the retiring Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Adanma Laminkara, has been described as a right choice, and an important move to consolidate on the gains of Justice Laminkara.

This observation was made by Prince Charles Beke, a Port Harcourt based businessman in a chat with Notable Outcome in Port Harcourt.

The managing director of Eastern Wrought Iron Limited, producers high quality furniture for homes, schools and hospitals described the appointment of Justice Amadi as successor to  Justice Laminkara as a welcome development, adding that Governor Nyesom Wike, who is a Life Bencher, knows what it takes to appoint a Chief Judge, and that he has done just that to give Rivers State a worthy successor, who has the capacity to stabilize the judiciary and also continue with the enviable work that  Justice Laminkara has been doing.

Prince Beke, who contended that the appointment of a substantive Chief Judge, from the records, has never been by seniority but based on the recommendation of the National Judicial Council, counselled those who are attacking the governor.and alleging ethnicity to cross check their facts before making unguarded statements.

Responding to a question, Prince Beke further explained that the incoming Chief Judge, who joined the judiciary as a magistrate several years ago has risen to serve as Chief Magistrate, Chief Registrar and has served in tribunals at state and federal levels before his current appointment.

Assuring that Justice Amadi has all it takes to move the judiciary in Rivers State to an enviable height, Prince Charles Beke urged all stakeholders to support the incoming Chief Judge, who is fortified with knowledge and experience, to take the judiciary in Rivers State to greater heights.
