(By Chris K.Amadi)- A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State and former commissioner for transport and aviation during the administration of Dr. Peter Odili, Barr. Emeh Glory Emeh, has hinted that he predicted the current disintegration of APC in Rivers State over two years ago.
Chief Emeh said this on the sidelines of the visit of Ijaws in Rivers State and endorsement of Governor Nyesom Wike at the Government House in Port Harcourt, on Monday, for a second term come 2019. The political strategist further declared that over two years ago he observed the recklessness, lack of organisation and cohesion in the body of the APC in the state, and that was what informed his move back to the PDP with over eight thousand APC members in March 2016.
Barr. Emeh commended Governor Wike for rebranding and repositioning the PDP at both state and national levels such that PDP is now the party to beat in Nigeria. He said: “It is not strange that APC is in this mess. Some of us foresaw it some two and half years ago and we are not surprised at the current turn of events.
“Governor Wike is committed in providing services to people of Rivers State and the almighty God has always been there for him such that his path is always made smooth in anything he touches.
“Wike can be likened to the proverb in the famous Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart, where the erudite scholar said that God drives away flies from tale less cows. The Ikwerre people also captured it, when in their adage they said he who is not carrying anything will not break anything.
“Gov. Wike has the favour, anointing and blessing of God and therefore will not fail in any endeavour. He is adequately prepared, I can assure you and sufficiently ready to prosecute the 2019 election under any circumstance, and we thank the people of Rivers State for reciprocating the outstanding performance of the several award winning governor”.
Barr. Glory Emeh, who is also Special Adviser on Political Affairs and Strategy to the governor of Rivers state commended the people of Ijaw nation for the decision to galvanise support for Governor Wike for the 2019 re-election, stressing that the decision is welcomed.
“In the past one month or so, all the senatorial districts have formally endorsed Governor Wike for his constitutional entitlement for a second. term.
“Rivers South East endorsed him in Bori, capital of the senatorial district; Rivers West endorsed him in Ahoada, also capital of that senatorial district and Rivers East also endorsed him in Port Harcourt. The visit today of Rivers Ijaw people is a testimony that our people are united, that in Wike they have found a leader they can trust, and there is no alternative to the people’s governor in 2019”, Emeh emphasized.
