(By Chris K.Amadi)-Politicians who are celebrating the end of godfatherism in Edo state following thedefeat of Adams Oshiomhole’s candidate,Osagie Ize Iyamu in last weekend’s governorship election by incumbent Governor Godswill Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party, have been warned to be wary of falling into the temptation of of also attempting to foist their preferred candidate on their people.
Speaking with newsmen in Port Harcourt, a pentecostal ministerincharge of Christ Faith Mission, Rev.Amos Ordu, predicted that the law of karma would work against all politicians who are celebrating the end of godfatherism in Edo state should they go ahead to do the same thingintheirown states.
Like what happened in Edo, the man of God advised politicians to allow the people to freely choose who leads them, adding that those of them who would try to impose their preferred candidates in 2023 will fail, in spite of their plans and strategies.
Meanwhile, some political watchers in Rivers State who spoke with Notable Outcome likened godfatherism to coup plotting, stressing that while those who succeed are celebrated, those who fail are rejected and condemned.
They sympathised with Adams Oshiomhole for the misfortune, which they attributed to a combination of factors, including divisions in the All Progressives Congress, making it impossible for the centre to hold.
