(By Silas Ofori) – At a time when Rivers people were thinking that the days of cult killings were over, the evil practice, on Thursday reared its head at the Rivers State University, Nkpolu- Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt with the killing of a student, and spreading of fear all over the campus
Speaking on the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in Rivers State, Nnamdi Omoni, Superintendent of Police, declared that the killing was cult related as a pistol was found on the slain student’s panties when the remains were taken to the mortuary.
Eyewitnesses said a group of suspected cultists had trailed the final year student to a cafeteria near the faculty of management science about 9:20am, where one of the cultists brought out a gun and shot the final year student in the head, and that he died on the spot.
Meanwhile, both the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Nlerum Okogbule, and the Public Relations Officer, Dr. Harcourt Whyte, have confirmed the killing, but assured that normalcy has been restored and the first semester examination proceeding as planned.
