(By Silas Tamuno) -The recent recognition of Governor Nyesom Wike as Mene Kwalenu 1 Of Ogoni by the people of Ogoni ethnic nationality has been described as another honour that is worth celebrating.
This observation was made by former Special Adviser to Governor Wike on Political Matters and Strategy, Barr. Emeh Glory Emeh, in a chat with newsmen in Port Harcourt.
Chief Emeh, who thanked the organizers of last Saturday event from the four Local Government Areas of Ogoni for the initiative, observed that, “there is time for everything in life: a time to criticize and a time to show appreciation”.
The former commissioner for transport and aviation in the administration of Dr. Peter Odili further noted that, while it is important for the citizens to hold those in government accountable, it is also important to maintain a balance by appreciating them when and where they do well.
Chief Emeh described the rare recognition given to Governor Wike as a genuine demonstration of appreciation by the Ogoni ethnic nationality for the signature road and other projects the administration has executed in the area, even as he lauded Ogonis for demonstrating a good understanding of the times.
Emeh, who said that, inspite of the misguided efforts by a hand full to misinform Rivers people and de-market Rivers State, that the people appreciates and stands with Governor Wike, congratulated the Governor for the well deserved honour, even as he solicited for the continuous support of well meaning Rivers people to encoueage the administration to remain focused in it’s determination to improve the quality of lives of all those who live and do business in Rivers.
