(By Iheanyi Ezinwo) -Insecurity in Nigeria has degenerated to the point that the confidence of the people on the security agencies is waning, even as reports of regular killings with inpunity accross the country is so scaring that many are considering the option of protecting their lives and properties. This observation was made by Prince Charles Beke, a Port Harcourt based businessman, while reflecting on the perolious times that have come upon Nigerians.
“There appears to be no end in sight. The situation demands that every body protects himself”, Prince Beke said, stressing that the times no longer require depending on the security agencies for protection.
He decried neglect of security operatives to respond to distress calls in Enugu and Benue states, among others, just as he wondered what the fate of the average Nigerian would be in a situation where state governors are helpless, and only see their people killed with inpunity in cold blood.
Prince Beke, who is the Managing Director of Eastern Wrought Iron Limited, further hinted that the wanton violations of lives of law abiding Nigerians will end the day the citizens rise and say that ‘enough is enough’, just as he maintained that Nigeria belongs to all Nigerians, and not to any individual or section of the country.
He called on Christians not to wait for God, but to wake up to the realities of the emergent challenge, stressing that God has empowered every believer to defend his faith in Jesus Christ, and to also fight for his right to lifeon earth, the reason why people should not only pray but also be alert to protect themselves and their properties from those who do not have respect for the laws of the land.
