President Muhammadu Buhari

(By Chris K.Amadi)-Following the official recognition of June 12 as Nigeria’s new Democracy Day by President Muhammadu Buhari in honour of late Chief Moshood Abiola, presumed winner of annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election in Nigeria, former chief of staff to Rivers State Government, Barr. Emeh Glory Emeh, has urged President Buhari to go beyondthe seeming actualisation of June 12 and all that it stands for by pronouncing Chief MKO Abiola the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria, posthumously.
Chief Emeh, who was speaking with newsmen at the Port Harcourt International Airport on his return from the United Kingdom, further urged President Buhari to demonstrate sincerity by causing the hanging of Abiola’s official portrait on the wall of the Presidential Villa among the other past Presidents and Heads of State, as the symbol and evidence of the honour.
The former commissioner for transport and aviation in Rivers state further added that President Abiola should also enjoy all the other benefits associated with of that exalted Office in form of staff cars and personnel.”This is the right thing to do as civilised people and it is only by this icing on the cake that the world will regard what the President has done with June 12 as not Political Coconma on Abiola’s grave and mere lip service to the meat of what June 12 represents”.
Barr Emeh however thanked President Mohammadu Buhari for renaming the National Stadium after Abiola, as he had advocated in his article of May 23, in popularview network.
“I urge the federal government to undertake massive reconstruction and rehabilitation of the stadium to give meaning to the decision to immortalize MKO in the proper sense of it.

“I recall with nostalgia, our experience with June 12 struggle, working with Chief Sergeant Awuse, Chief AK Dikibo,Dr.Mathew Mamah, who was our SDP chairman in Rivers State;/Babagana Kingibe, General Shehu Ya’Aradua,Olu Falae and a host of others.

“It will therefore be a thing of joy if MKO is restored as President of Nigeria, as what is worth doing is worth doing well”, the political strategist said.
Barr Glory Emeh further advised President Buhari to perfect electoral instruments that will guarantee inclusive governance as a way of justifying Abiola’s contributions for a united Nigeria nation by aligning his actions with the federal character.
