Ken Saro-Wiwa, late Ogoni environmental activist

(By Iheanyi Ezinwo)-Chapter leaders of the Movement for the Survival of Ogoni People, MOSOP, representing over 200 Ogoni communities and coordinators of the activities of MOSOP in all Ogoni villages have revolted against alleged schemes by the President of MOSOP, Legbosi Pyagbara, to elongate his tenure which expires on December 31, 2018.
In a statement signed on behalf of the Forum of Chapter Leaders of the MOSOSP by Chief Sunday Ndee, Comrade Bakor Bob Mawell, Comrade Nnah Barikor, Comrade Gbenenee Friday, Comrade Doneh Dum Foster, Chief Engr. Friday S. Eedee and Pastor Obidiah Ade-e Baah and made available to Notable Outcome in Port Harcourt, the aggrieved MOSOP leaders accused Mr . Pyagbara of disregarding the body’s constitution which required the leadership to set the stage for an election that will produce a new leadership in December.

The relations of late Ken Saro-Wiwa, the famous Ogoni environmentalist, who was killed  for his agitation for fair deals for Ogonis and the Niger Delta,  accused Legborsi Pyagbara of subtly attempting to frustrate the conduct of elections in order to possibly elongate his tenure, a development which they argued was against the principles of MOSOP, hence their agitation for the election processes to commence immediately.

Affirming their determination to protect the constitution of MOSOP and to advance the rights of the Ogoni people as demanded in the Ogoni Bill of Rights, the chapter leaders of the Movement for the Survival of Ogoni People, MOSOP, representing over 200 Ogoni communities and coordinators of the activities of MOSOP in all Ogoni villages threatened to take steps in three days to protect their rights to choose their leaders, if Mr. Pyagbara neglects to do the needful.
Our attempts to reach Mr.Pyagbara for comments were unsuccessful at press time.
