The year 2022 surely holds a great promise for officers of the Nigeria police following the announcement of 20 percent increase in their salaries with effect from January.
This announcement which was made on Wednesday was the outcome of a virtual weekly Federal Executive Council Meeting which was presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja.
The Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi,according to huhuonline.com reports, disclosed this to journalists at the end of the meeting.
The minister explained that the raise in the take-home pay of policemen was designed to improve the relationship between the office and men of the police and the Nigerian populace.
In addition, the Council also approved an adjustment of duty tour allowance for the police as well as their shift allowance to six percent. The government also approved the release of N1.2b for the payment of uninsured benefits, and another N1.2b to offset outstanding allowances.
He further explained that this was in fulfillment of the promise by Buhari to improve the pay for the police officers and men following the demands by the #EndSARS protesters in October last year.
