‘Nigerian Christians, Muslims Indifferent, As States Are Governed By Looters’

Participants at the NIPR Mandatory Continuous Development Programme in Port Harcourt on Thursday

It  has  been observed that Christians and Muslims in Nigeria are indifferent to the helplessness of the poor while the state governors loot the common wealth entrusted in their care.

The observation was made by Amaopusenibo Bobo Brown while speaking at a one – day Mandatory Continuous Development Program, MCPD, organised by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, on Thursday in Port Harcourt.

Bobo Brown, former National President of NIPR contended that there were no Muslim nor Christian States in Nigeria but rather states governed by looters. He emphasized that if those who profess to be Christians and Muslims, along with their leaders demand responsible administration, including payment of salaries, pensions and gratuities as and when due from the governors, that things will change and the governors would be motivated to give the welfare of the citizens a priority.

Speaking on ‘Branding’, which is the theme of the programme, Amaopusenibo Bobo Brown explained that a brand is a deliberate creation to reflect how the owner of an organization or product or group wants to be seen by themselves and by others. He added that public Relations brand is relationship driven, and that relevant stakehders must own it if it must be successful.

Earlier in his own presentation, Dr. Lawrence Bekwele Dike defined a ‘Brand’ as whatever distinguishes an individual, product, place or organisation, adding that branding is aimed at winning customers loyalty, and to enhance competitiveness.

In his remarks at the occasion, the Rivers State Chapter Chairman of the NIPR, Pastor Paulinus Nsirim, disclosed that the chapter was committed to broadening professionalism in public relations, even as he urged participants to put into practice in their various organisations all the principles learnt at the programme.

Participants at the programme came from Rivers and neighbouring states.
