Nigerians Celebrate Victory Over Zambia, 2018 World Cup Qualification

Amadi) –It has been celebrations among Nigerians at home and abroad following the 1-0 victory of Nigerian Super Eagles over the Chipolopolo football club of Zambia Saturday evening in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, Nigeria, making Nigeria the first African country to qualify for the 2018 World Cup holding in Russia.
The game changer was Alex Iwobi, who plays for Arsenal football club of England. He was introduced in the 67th minute and scored in the 73rd minute of the game. Interestingly, the same Iwobi scored in the first leg encounter between Nigeria and Zambia.
With the slim victory, Nigeria now has an opportunity to feature at the World Cup for the sixth time irrespective of the outcome of the next match with Algeria in November this year.
With the slim victory over Zambia on Saturday Nigeria now leads Group B with 13 points. Zambia has 7 points, and Cameroon six points.
Recall that Nigeria was at the World Cup in 1994, 1998 and 2014, reaching the second round; and also in 2002 and 2010 when they were shown the way out in the group stage.
In the other Group B match, Cameroon were better than Algeria by 2-0 in Cameroon.
