There were widespread reports Monday that Justice Tanko Muhammad has resigned as the Chief Justice of Nigeria on the grounds of ill-health.
Although the Special Adviser on Media and Communication to CJN, Ahuraka Yusuf Isah, reportedly said, that “he is going to declare open a workshop this morning at the NJI (National Judicial Institute)”, attempts to reach other close associates of the CJN, such as Dr Mike Ozekhome (SAN), were unsuccessful.
With his resignation, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola will be the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria.
Meanwhile, citizens who spoke with Notable Outcome in Port Harcourt expressed shock at the development but wished Justice Tanko well in his retirement.
