On Senate Presidency: Oshiomhole Has Lost Sense of Reasoning, Says Support Popular View, Describes Siege On Legislature As Demonstration Of Desperation

(By Joe B. Omie)-Nigeria and the entire international community watched on television and read on print media about the siege on the National Assembly and threat to the presidency of the Nigerian Senate currently and rightly occupied by one of Nigeria’s finest lawmakers, Senator(Dr.) Buk ola Saraki.

The desperation and show of ignorance demonstrated by Adams Oshiomhole in the outing showed that the All Progressives Congress, APC, was really not prepared to provide governance. And this is worsened by the emergence of an inexperienced political party administrator, who lived all his life as an activist unionist in the person of Adam Oshiomhole.
These are the views of the Support Popular View group, an international opinion molding organization.
Speaking to newsmen in Abuja, the Publicity Secretary of the Support Popular View group, , Mr. Meshack Lawson-Jack, expressed deep concern that a party manager like Oshiomhole can exhibit that level of energy on a simple and logical issue, of how an independent organ of government, the National Assembly, should regulate itself and manage its affairs.
According to him, “The issue of impeachment is a constitutional matter and does not require unnecessary show of activism to achieve. We have no doubt that APC, by now, if they didn’t have , should have hired a front line lawyer that should guide them on the provisions of the constitution and indeed interpret same such that Oshiomhole and those traveling the same boat with him will not all the time embarrass the Nigerian nation by their utterances.
“Senator Bukola Saraki had said without any ambiguity that the leadership of the National Assembly will be ready to vacate their seats if Oshiomhole and those who are so desperate to actualize their threat meet the constitutional requirements.
“As at today, Oshiomhole and his party are not able to muster the required two – third majority in either chambers to effect a change in leadership. For the avoidance of doubt, and to educate Adam Oshiomhole that, it does not matter how much he shouts on National Television, he still will need not less than 73 senators and a minimum of 240 members of House of Representatives to actualize his tall dream of removing Senator Saraki and Hon. Dogara”, the concerned Nigerian maintained.
Speaking further, the Publicity Secretary of Support Popular View Group, Mr. Meshack Lawson- Jack, expressed disappointment for the lack of logic in the analogy presented by Oshiomhole when he likened Saraki’s situation to that of Senator Akpabio, when he said that Akpabio took the path of honour by resigning first, before defecting from  PDP to APC.
He said: “This erroneous analogy does not hold water because in the case of Senator Saraki he has not left PDP so he does not have to resign, especially, against the background that any senator, having been elected to the senate is qualified to contest for the position of senate president or any other position for that matter”, adding that “until Oshiomhole realizes this, he will not only ruin the APC, his utterances and behavior will truncate our nascent democracy”.
Further more, Mr. Lawson –Jack posited: “We are more worried when you juxtapose the public expressions of Adam Oshiomhole with the findings of the investigative panel which allegedly points to the fact that it was Oshiomhole, while warehousing APC member in his residence arranged for the DSS team to take over the National Assembly, with a view to impeaching the senate president “, an effort which he said ended in futility.
He however warned that Nigeria is guarding its democracy jealously, and will resist unnecessary rascality of unionist activist masquerading as political party administrator without cognate experience.
