Politics Of Religion Will Not Grow Nigeria’s Democracy, Says Adviser On Politics, Governance …..Commends Northern APC Leaders For Distancing Themselves From Muslim/Muslim Presidential Ticket

Nigerian politicians have been warned against playing politics with religion in a multi-religious society because of it’s tendency to divide instead of unite the citizens. This advice was given by Barr. Emeh Glory Emeh, former Chief of Staff, Government House Port Harcourt in a chat with newsmen over the weekend while commending the All Progressives Congress, APC, leaders for distancing themselves from the Muslim/Muslim ticket adopted by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the party’s presidential candidate in the forthcoming 2023 elections in Nigeria.

Barr. Emeh, who is a Consultant in Politics and Governance argued that there was no justifiable reason for any one to contemplate Muslim/Muslim ticket in a multi-religious country like Nigeria, even as he described the Muslim/Muslim ticket as not only misguided and insensitive, but also an assault on the sensibilities.of Nigerians in general and denial of the rights of Christians in an already Muslim dominated political system and government.

While lauding the Christain leaders in the APC for seeing through the shennigans of their presidential and vice-presidential candidates of their party ahead of the 2023 elections, the political strategist advised the aggrieved Christian leaders in the APC and other lovers of peace and unity in Nigeria to use their votes wisely to freely choose the kind of leaders who represent their feelings and aspirations.

The Political Scientist, Accountant, Lawyer and former Commissioner for Transport and Aviation in the administration of His Excellency, Dr. Peter Odili, believe that the APC Northern leaders as well as generality of other Nigerians who mean well for our country have protection in the alternative provided by the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the choice of Presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Waziri Adamawa and vice Presidential candidate Senator Ifeanyichukwu Okowa that recognised the religious diversity of the country and urged them to take full advantage of the opportunity deploying the instrument provided by INEC

Chief Emeh warned politicians against using religion to sow the seed of discord in the country and deliberately take steps that will
strengthen the unity of Nigeria, enhance her prosperity and give all citizens a sense of belonging.
