Proprietor Lists Programmes Accredited By NBTE At Emohua Based Centenary College Of Health Sciences

The School from one angle

As Rivers people celebrate the accreditation of programmes being run at the first private College of Health Sciences and Technology in the state by the National Board for Technical Education, NBTE, the proprietor of the monotechnic, Sir. Napoleon Ewule, has been celebrating the giant strides of the institution since her first matriculation of 110 students in 2017.

Speaking with Notable Outcome’s Publisher, Iheanyi Ezinwo, at the College campus located at Ogbakiri junction in Emohua, along the East West road, Sir.Napoleon
Ewule explained that the institution started four years ago by affiliating with the Rivers State Government owned College of Health Sciences and Management Technology and Abia State College of Health Sciences and Technogy until this year, 2022, when the NBTE gave their blessing to our programmes.

According to the proprietor, who is a retired health worker in Rivers State, the accreditation covers their National Diploma programmes in dietetics, medical imaging technology, community health technology as well as other certificate programmes in safety, epidemeology, health education etc.

Responding to a question, the entrepreneur listed the facilities available for the training of middle level health professionals at Centenary College of Health Sciences and Technology, Emohua, Rivers State to include demonstration clinic, laboratory, plant farm for pharmaceutical technology; scanning machine, even as he added that the institution is awaiting the delivery of ECG X- ray machine that she ordered.
The school, according to the Director also has a good library, including e – library; 400 members of staff as well as professional lecturers, registrar, librarian, bursar and other categories of staff.

Sir Ewule, who is the Chairman of Council of Centenary College of Health Sciences and Technogy, Emohua in the Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, took the visiting publisher of Notable Outcome around to see the twin two story buildings and other buildings presently accommodating 400 students, just as he took his visitor to the site of their water factory, which, according to him, would serve as another source of income since the institution is yet to receive support from the outside.

He also disclosed that the first set of Higher National Diploma students of the institution will be proceeding for the National Youth Service programme before the end of the year, adding that their affiliation with the Rivers State College of Health Sciences and Technology and Abia State College of Health Technology is the basis for their Higher National Diploma programmes.
He however assured that the school is working towards getting full accreditation in the next two years.
The proprietor further hinted that the duration of programmes at the school is two years for National Diploma and another 2 years for Higher National Diploma.
