Remains Of Late Beke Matriach, Weyewere, To Be Laid To Rest, Saturday In Elibrada

(By Iheanyi Ezinwo) – All is now set for the burial of the matriarch of the Osimini Beke dynasty, late Lady Weyewere Beke, nee Weliogba, on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Elibrada in the Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.
A statement by the first son and Chief Mourner, Prince Charles Beke, assures that logistics and security arrangements have been put in place to ensure a peaceful and successful programme, which promises to attract people from all walks of life.

The programme, according to the statement, will commence on Wednesday, 31 October, with Service of Songs at her husband’s residence in Elibrada. Thursday will feature presentation of gifts to the less privileged and elderly, while a novelty match is scheduled for Friday. Funeral and thanksgiving services will take place on Saturday and Sunday respectively at the St. Philip’s Anglican Church, Elibrada.

Late Lady Weyewere Beke, was the first wife of late Chief Francis Osimini Beke, prominent businessman and politician of his time. She passed on September 13, 2018 after a brief illness at the age of 88. She is survived by Prince Charles Beke, former commissioner in Rivers State and Managing Director of Eastern Wrought Iron Limited in Port Harcourt. Prince Charles Beke is also a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State.

The late Osimini Beke matriarch is also survived by Chief Emeka Beke, Secretary of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State as well as other sons and daughters, grand children and numerous relations.

During her lifetime, Lady Weyewere Beke had a testimony of being able to live peacefully with other women in the polygamous family. She was also a committed Christian in the Anglican Church.
