
The Rivers State House of Assembly last Friday held a valedictory session house in honour of a former lawmaker representing Oyigbo State Constituency in the 6th Assembly, Hon. Nnamdi Ihute.
Speaking at the solemn occasion at the Rivers State House of Assembly complex in Port Harcourt, the lawmakers representing Oyigbo, Tai and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni State Constituencies, Hons. Promise Nwankwo, Matthew Dike and Christian Ahiakwo respectively recalled that the departed lawmaker was a worthy representative of the good people of Oyigbo in the 6th Assembly and left behind exemplary legacies to inspire upcoming politicians in the state.
In his remarks, the speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ikuinyi Owaji- Ibani described the late Ihute accepted responsibility and represented his constituency well in the 6th assembly.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State Environmental Protection and Management Amendment Bill 2022, presented by the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule, has been given first reading on the floor of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
In his remarks, the majority leader hinted that the bill, when passed into law will strengthen the ongoing efforts of the River State Governor, Nyesom Wike to check environmental hazards in the State, including the illegal refining of petroleum products.
