(By Iheanyi Ezinwo) -The Rivers State House of Assembly has reshuffled the chairmanship of its standing committees, handing over five of the positions to the minority All Progressives Congress, APC.
With the new development, the minority leader, Hon. B. Anabraba is now chairman, House Committee in charge of office of the Secretary to the State Government, Head of Service and Pensions board, while Hon. Josiah Olu takes over Information and Communication Technology, and Victoria Nyeche now Chairman, House Committee on Women Affairs.
Others include Dr. Innocent Barikor –Special Duties and Emergency Relief while Friday Nke-eh is chairman of standing committee on Sustainable Development.
Speaking at the plenary Tuesday, the speaker, Rt. Ikuinyi Owaji-Ibani explained that the initiative inspired by the need to give every law maker, irrespective of party affiliations ample opportunity to contribute to the development of the state.
Meanwhile, Hon. Victoria Nyeche and her colleagues had described the move as commendable, welcome and transparent development, ensuring that no one is left behind in the quest to advance the cause of development in the state.
In a related development, the Rivers State House of Assembly has committed the appropriation bill submitted by Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike to the committee stage for scrutiny before final debate and passage.
