(By Iheanyi Ezinwo & Chris K.Amadi)-The Rivers State House of Assembly are celebrating with Governor Nyesom Wike for yet another post election victory at the Supreme Court.
Speaking during plenary on Tuesday, the presiding speaker, Rt. Hon.Ikuinyi Ibani-Owaji, thanked God for disappointing those who wanted to abort the journey of development in the state, pledging the continued support of the House to enable the executive state overcome security and other challenges confronting the state so as to improve the welfare of Rivers people.
In a related development, the speaker also recently commended the governor over his victory at the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in the matter between him as governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the last governorship election and the governorship candidate of African Action Congress, Awara Biokpomabo, describing it as victory for Rivers people.
He pledged the commitment of the Assembly to sustain their support for the executive in order to consolidate on the achievements of the first term, adding that their decision to work together is based on the principle that the three arms of government are partners in the progress of the state, and not adversaries.
