Rivers Assembly Supports Enforcement Of Wearing Of Face Marks, Disturbed By Sea Piracy

(By Iheanyi Ezinwo)-The Rivers State house of Assembly has resolved that the enforcement of the wearing of face marks in public place in the state be sustain and implemented as passed by the house.

This follows a motion presented on the floor of the house by the house committee Chairman on health, Hon. Sam Ogeh, lawmaker representing Emohua state constituency in the assembly. In in his prayers on Monday, the lawmaker had commended the state and all the health front line workers for their efforts to curb the spread and condemned the attitude of residents for not obeying the preventive measures in the state.

Some lawmakers during the debate said the motion is very timely especially this period when residents have refused to use the face marks and also supported the enforcement in the state.

Meanwhile, the speaker of the house, Ikuinyi Owaji- Ibani in his submission said the security agencies should collaborate with the ministry of health to enforce in the state, just as the house was adjourned the till next month 2nd of March, 2021.

In a related development, the lawmaker representing Bonny constituency in Rivers State House of Assembly, Abinye Pepple says the house will not relent in ensuring the issues of Sea piracy affecting the waterways is resolved in the state.

This follows a petition that he presented on the floor of the house on behalf of a group known as End Seapairacy in Bonny local government area.

The lawmaker expressed confidence that the petition, which was referred to the house committee on Public complaint and petition will give the petition accelerated hearing.
