Rivers Assembly To Proceed On Recess, As Speaker Survives Threat

Written by Notable Outcome

(By Iheanyi Ezinwo)-The speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ikuinyi Owaji-Ibani has announced the house was proceeding on recess after meeting the mandatory 182 sittings.

He gave the indication on Thursday while assuring Rivers people of the commitment of the legislature to continue to make laws for peace and good governance in the state.

It would be recalled that Rt. Hon. Owaji-Ibani, articulate and seen by many as a very competent leader of the legislature in the state, was subject of direct attack by his colleague representing Ahoada East 1, Hon. Martins Mannah. He was accused of incompetence and asked to resign but it does appear the opinion of the law maker do not reflect the view of the majority of the lawmakers.
