“Late Alabo Olu Benibo Fubara was instrumental to the formation of the Rivers state chapter of NIPR and mentored many who are today driving the communications industry. He also introduced several innovative and beneficial programmes that uplifted the profession and many practitioners”, Pastor Nsirim said.

Nsirim, who is also the Commissioner of Information of Rivers State, added: “worthy of mention is that when OB FUBARA retired from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) where he served as the first Group General Manager, Corporate Affairs, and the corporation requested him to name a parting gift, he used the opportunity to further the empowering of the next generation by requesting that books be donated to the then Rivers State University of Science and Technology now Rivers State University”.

Late OB FUBARA was Chief Press Secretary to the first military governor of Rivers state, Alfred Diete Spiff and was instrumental in the establishment of Radio Rivers FM station, serving as its first General Manager.

The lecture is open to Public relations practitioners, development scholars, community development enthusiast, leaders of the political and traditional institutions and members of the general public.
