(By Chioma Peters)-The Supreme Court of Nigeria has agreed with the ruling of Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, that Senator Bukola Saraki has no case to answer in the matter of false declaration of assets preferred against him by the Federal Government.
The ruling was given on Friday by Justice Centus Nweze of the Supreme Court, who set aside the judgment of the Court of Appeal in December last year that the senate president, while not found wanting in some areas had some questions to answer in others.
The ruling of the Supreme Court on Friday was sequel to Senator Saraki’s appeal against the declaration by the Court of Appeal, after the Federal Government had appealed an earlier verdict of the Code of Conduct Tribunal striking out the case, that the senator had not erred in law.
With this declaration, according to political pundits, the senate president, who had been so much distracted by this false asset declaration allegation from the Federal Government, can now settle down to his legislative duties.
