Secondus: Cloud Of Uncertainties Hang In The Air As Appeal Court Rules On Friday

The Appeal Court ruling on the prayer of the embattled – suspended national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Uche Secondus , to stop  the PDP national convention has been moved from  Thursday, October 27,  to Friday, October 29, and this development has heightened the anxieties  among PDP faithful across Nigeria because of the closeness of the judgment to the 31st October date for the party’s national convention.

Although, in a statement credited to Governor Seyi Makinde, Secretary of the National Convention Planning Committee had maintained that the National Executive Committee of the PDP had acted in good faith in fixing the party’s convention for October 30 and 31, political analysts who spoke with Notable Outcome in Port Harcourt insisted that all parties in the dispute have cause to worry as, according to them, the decision of the Appeal Court could go either way, and that if the ruling is against the PDP, it will mean the abortion of the convention.

Meanwhile, the respondents agreed with the statement that there might be some forces working to truncate the convention and divide the PDP, adding that a united PDP remained a threat to those who want to hold on to power after failing to fulfill the legitimate expectations of Nigerians.
