Secure Your Future By Acquiring Sustainable Skills, Rivers NYSC Coordinator Charges Corps Members


(By Silas Ofori) – The Coordinator of NYSC Rivers state, Chief Chinwendu Ogbonnaya Chukwu has tasked 2021 Batch B Stream 1 corps members deployed to Rivers state to take advantage of available opportunities to acquire skills and embrace the culture of income generation inorder to secure their future.

Chief Chukwu gave the charge on Tuesday while flagging off the SAED opening ceremony/ sensitization for 2021 Batch B Stream 1 corps members at the NYSC camp located at Nonwa Gbam.

He informed the corps members that NYSC top management have a Memorandum of Understanding with regulatory bodies such as the Standards Organization of Nigeria, Corporate Affairs Commission, National Agency For Food, Drugs Administration and Control among others to help in the branding of their products, as well as guiding them in the creation of value.

Chief Chukwu also hinted the corps members that financial institutions such as the Central Bank, Bank of Industry, BOI and Bank of Agriculture, BOA are well disposed to assisting them in starting their own businesses with interest free loans.

In his remarks, the SAED Officer, Mr. Eze D.O enjoined the corps members to take the SAED training seriously as they need to secure their future by the acquisition of a sustainable skill, so that in the event that there is no white collar job after service, they can fall back on their skill.

He urged them to choose a particular skill of interest to them from the 12 skills set and build their capacity on it.

The flag off was monitored by Mrs. Helen Eyo of NYSC SSAO and was attended by top camp officials.
