Senator Lee Maeba

(By Ofori B. West) – Politicians , leaders and the entire people of Ogoni ethnic nationality of Rivers State have been urged to sink their differences and work for unity and development of Ogoni land.

The call was made by Senator Lee Maeba, while speaking on the sidelines of the funeral of late Austine Nwakoh in Khana local government area of Rivers State over the weekend.
Leading the pack of Ogoni politicians at the funeral, Senator Maeba observed that Nwakoh was a man of peace and deserved to be appreciated even in death. He also praised Governor Ezenwo Wike of Rivers State for his benevolence, describing the governor as a great patriot and worthy leader.

In his remarks at the occasion, Governor Wike described late Nwakoh as a trusted politician, both in words and deeds. He announced the appointment late Nwakoh’s wife, Mrs. Barile Austin Nwakoh as one of his special assistants and offered to support the education of deceased’s son who is studying in Cyprus.

Also speaking at the occasion, Senator Magnus Abe, who was said to be a close ally of late Nwakoh, described the deceased as a true friend and brother, stressing that his death has left a vacuum in the political terrain of Ogoni land.

Meanwhile, people from all walks of life attended the funeral service which was conducted by the Assemblies of God Church.
