Gun men suspected to be terrorists on Sunday reportedly attacked Maiborinti community in Molai near Maiduguri, the Borno State capital carting away gun trucks. According to channels tv.com, the incident was carried out by attackers who were shooting sporadically at about 5:20 pm.
Eyewitnesses told the news medium that the gunmen burnt down a neighbouring village and attacked a military checkpoint at the entrance of Molai town, causing residents to flee towards Jiddari Polo area.
It further reported that the assailants, however, met a stiff resistance from the military in Molai who engaged them in a fierce gun battle until they were forced to retreat but it could not be confirmed if any life has been lost.
In recent times, the terrorists appear to be intensifying attacks on communities and military locations in Borno state, with either losses of lives or weapons or both each time they attack but the Nigerian Armed Forces have assured that they are on top of the situation.
