(By Chris K. Amadi)-The Super Eagles of Nigeria on Saturday put up unsatisfactory performance and dashed the hopes of soccer loving fans back home by losing 2-1 in a very important friendly with Three Lions of England, on their way to the June 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Many Nigerians who reacted to the outcome of the game on Saturday said they did not expect the Eagles to be down to two goals in the first half of the game, only to put in one goal through Alex Iwobi in the second half at the Wembley Stadium.
Although soccer analysts regretted that England was beating Nigeria for the second time in three encounters, they however believe the strong challenge from England will help the Nigerian side to be more strategic in its preparations, having discovered their strengths and weakness as they head to the World Cup.
While many Nigerians are desirous of seeing the Mikel Obi led Super Eagles team soar in Russia and improve Nigeria’s World Cup records, they also hope that their darling team will do better on Wednesday when they meet Czech Republic in Austria for another pre-World Cup friendly.
