(By Princess Okpara)-History was again made today as Peoples Democratic Party,PDP, members who won election into the 9th Session of the National Assembly collected their Certificates of Return with pomp and pageantry.
The certificates, which were given at Abuja by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, is a demonstration that Rivers State is a PDP state.
Speaking with our reporter in a telephone interview in Port Harcourt, Governor Nyesom Wike’s Special Adviser on Political Matters and Strategy, Barr.Emeh Glory Emeh, expressed joy that all those from Rivers State who picked up their Certificates of Return dully won the election on the platform of the PDP.
“You don’t need to ask what the ceremony held in Abuja today means to the people of Rivers State and indeed the PDP.
” It is clear that all the recipients of the Certificate of Return today, who traveled from Port Harcourt to Abuja won the election on the platform of the PDP.
“It shows by extrapolation, that election held thereafter, would, in natural progression, reflect the same spirit and sentiment.
” This is why it sounds ridiculous that a party that has been in power since 1999 and has won all the seats in the federal election held on 23 February, including returning the highest number of votes cast for PDP Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, can be said not to have won in that manner seven days after.
“The concomitant effect of the exercise that just happened in Abuja, is that, it shows Nigerians and indeed the international community that PDP won both the Governorship and House of Assembly elections held on the 9th of March.
” INEC should therefore have no reason to delay releasing the results already collated and are n favour of the PDP.
“It is only by so doing that nature and God almighty will grant every one peace and freedom.
” Any attempt to truncate the will of the people as expressed on the 9th of March will receive, not only the wrath of the gods of the land, but also the punishment of the most high God”, the former commissioner for transport and aviation in the state warned.
Chief Emeh, who had also served in the past as chief of staff,Rivers State Government House, congratulated the NEW Rivers team for their victory, and Governor Wike for his commitment to the welfare of the people of the state.
“We want to restate our stand that, there is no alternative to Governor Wike in 2019, as demonstrated in the March 9th election”, he concluded.
