Governor Aminu Tambuwal

(By Chris K. Amadi)-The last is yet to be heard of defections of high profile Nigerian politicians from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, with the Wednesday announcement of the Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal of his move to the PDP, Nigeria’s leading opposition political party.

It would be recalled that, in the last few days, former members of the APC have been deserting the party in droves: From the federal and states lawmakers, to Governor of Benue State, Samuel Orthom; and on Tuesday, the Senate President Bukola Saraki and Kwara state Governor Abdulfattah Ahmed, as well as thousands of their supporters.

The Sokoto State Governor, in his twitter handle had accused President Muhammadu Buhari of being “ineffective”, and for failing to fulfill the legitimate expectations of Nigerians, adding that that he had consulted widely before opting out of the APC and that his decision has the blessing of the people of Sokoto State.

In his address to thousands of supporters at the Sokoto Government House, the governor, who is said to have a presidential ambition, urged Nigerians to reject President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 election.
