The Eastern Port command has arrested two suspects over the vandalism of the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, Wharf Steel beam underneath the Quay Apron valued at twenty million Naira.
Briefing newsmen at the Port in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, the Commissioner of Police in charge of Eastern Port, CP Tami Evelyn Peterside, explained how the Command had been inundated with reports of the unwholesome activities of vandals at the port, and that painstaking surveillance eventually paid off with the arrest of two suspects, Willams Tabotamuno, 38years and Akpos Ekiye, 44 years in November 8th based on credible information.
The CP hinted that, in the course of investigation, they found that the 125 , Okwuzu Street which one of the suspects, Willams Tabotamuno, claimed to be his residential address do not exit, and that non at that Water side was aware that the suspect’s brother was missing in the water as claimed by the suspect.
Exhibits recovered from the suspects who had been cutting NPA Wharf Steel beam underneath the Quay Apron valued at twenty million Naira included one Techno phone, one canoe and two paddles, three gas cylinders of different sizes and two spanners.
The Port CP added that the suspects are members of a notorious organized syndicate that has been vandalizing the beams of Quay Aprons of the Port Terminals, adding that their arrest will reduce the tide of vandalism at the port.
