(By Chris K.Amadi) – Funke Akindele, Nollywood actress and her husband, Abdulrasheed Bello have pleaded guilty of breaching the Lagos State infectious diseases regulation, which was put in place to enforce the lockdown to check the spread of coronavirus in the state. The regulation prescribes N100,000 fine or one month jail term for violators.
The couple pleaded guilty when they were arraigned by the Nigerian Police at a court presided by Magistrate Aje Afunwa in Lagos on Monday.
Recall that the couple were arrested on Sunday night for hosting a birthday in their residence on Saturday, an action that was against the restriction order of government.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has confirmed six new cases of COVID-19 in the country, bringing the total number of cases in Nigeria to 238 on Monday.
Channels Television quotes a tweet by NCDC as indicating that Kwara and Edo recorded two cases respectively while Rivers and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, confirmed a case each. The total number of deaths as at Monday was five while the figure of those who have been discharged are 35.
