(By Iheanyi Ezinwo)-Elibrada Community, headquarters of ward three in the Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State was agog on Tuesday as it played host to all the other three communities of Isiodu, Rumuakunde and Oduoha that make up the ward in Emohua LG and the campaign train of Chief Tom Aliezi, chairmanship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the June 16 council elections in Rivers State.
Speaking at the event, Chief of Staff, Government House, Engr. Emeka Woke, praised the people of Elibrada for their unflinching support for the administration of Governor Nyesom Wike, who, according to him, has provided an enabling environment for more women participation in politics as exemplified in the representation of ward three by a woman.
He urged the people not to be distracted but come out in their numbers on June 16 to vote for the PDP chairmanship and councillorship candidates, even as he informed that the Chief of Staff’s Prize awaits the ward that will post the highest number of votes at the election.
Also speaking, the PDP chairmanship candidate, Tom Aliezi, who hails from Elele Alimini, lauded the people of Elibrada for their peaceful disposition and impressive turn out to receive his team, noting that his experience in the area contrasts with the negative information being peddled that the community is not safe.
He solicited for the support of ward three, assuring that no part of the local government would be left behind if his team is voted into office.
In his own remarks, Director General of the local government PDP Campaigns, Hon, Arthur Uchendu, a commissioner in the Rivers State House of Assembly Service Commission, challenged the people of Elibrada to come out in their numbers to vote for PDP, to prove that, indeed, the community is PDP.
Also speaking, the leader of ward three, Prince Charles Beke, reminded the people that another opportunity has come for them to demonstrate their love for PDP, the party he said has provided equal opportunity for a woman to represent the ward, assuring the visitors that Elibrada will deliver.
In her speech, the PDP councillorship candidate, who coincidentally is from Elibrada, Mrs. Chidinma Fortune Awuse assured of quality representation when voted into office and solicited for the support of all.
The rally witnessed the defection of former members of the All Progressives Congress in the community to the PDP.
The Aliezi campaign train which stormed Elibrada from wards 1 and 2 in Ogbakiri later moved to Rumuche Emohua, the headquarters of ward 4 in continuation of the PDP campaigns for the forthcoming LG elections in the state.
