(By Iheanyi Ezinwo)-Nigerians have been urged not to be discoursed by developments leading up to the February and March 2019 elections but should be determined to come out in their numbers to cast their votes. This charge was given by the National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the South South, Bro. Emma Ogidi, in an exclusive interview with Notable Outcome in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, even as he warned that, “If we don’t go out en masse, we will not change this government”.

Bro. Emma Ogidi, National Vice Chairman of  PDP, South South Nigeria

The PDP chieftain, who said he was not persuaded by President Muhammadu Buhari’s claim on Arise Television on Monday night that he has told the security agents not to interfere with the elections, said the activities of the police in elections have been far from the expected, and that all the arguments justifying the recent posting of Amina Zakari in the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, are unconvincing because they know what she did in Edo before the controversial elections in Ekiti and Osun states.

Bro. Ogidi, who maintained that he was as part of the process leading to the last election in Edo state, revealed that Amina Zakari and those working with her changed everything, even as he maintained that he has a very firm belief in God, and that God will not allow what happened in Edo, Ekiti and Osun states to happen again in the 2019 election.

The PDP chieftain further explained that God uses people to vote: “You see, in this game of power, there is something that many of us don’t know: it is God’s power that is just given to us.

“ Me and you are talking today: is it not because we are awake? If you are not awake will you talk? All these things we are talking about, on that day, God can touch their hearts and they will do the correct thing.

“I am very sure that after the 2019 general elections, there will be no more APC as a party in Nigeria because you saw the way they came, they wanted power: Nigerians believed them but as soon as they got there, for three and half years it was all complaints about the 16 years of the PDP; they have nothing to offer.

“Again, look at it, they never expected to win: Dr. Goodluck Jonathan didn’t want anybody to die, he allowed them, but look at what is happening today”, he said, while declaring that. Nigerians now know better.

On the Federal High Court’s ruling that Rivers APC will not field any candidate in the 2019 elections, Bro.Ogidi said, “the court has spoken and all parties will abide by the court ruling”, even as he added that, he was taken aback when he heard Senator Magnus Abe’s lawyer, Barr. Henry Bello, talk about people playing God and imposing candidates, the reason for the misfortune that has befallen them in Rivers State.

On moves by the Rivers APC to appeal the judgment, the National Vice Chairman of PDP, South South, said they have right to appeal, but warned that, after 19th January, they can’t go to the ballot again.

He called on Rivers people to prepare to come out en masse to vote for Atiku Abubakar, Nyesom Wike and all PDP candidates in the National and State Assembly elections, because, according to him, “ we are going to continue to deliver by the grace of God”.
