Wike Has Justified His 2015 Election; Re-Election In 2019 — Beke

(By Iheanyi Ezinwo) As Rivers people look forward to another general election in 2019, Hon. Charles Beke has scored the performance of Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike  above average, a result he feels has justified Wike’s election in 2015, and his re-election in 2019.
Hon. Charles Beke, former commissioner for commerce and industry in the state made this observation in an interview with newsmen, Friday in Port Harcourt.
His words:
“The last two years of the immediate past administration was riddled with crises, before Barr. Wike came into governance in Rivers State. The courts were shut, denying citizens access to justice. The legislature was crippled, as a faction sat in the Government House. Civil servants and pensioners were owed backlog of salaries and other entitlements, while roads in the state capital, Port Harcourt, and neighbouring towns were in deplorable condition because of failure of as governance. There was general loss of confidence in government.
“On assumption of office, Governor Wike immediately flagged off operation zero potholes, an initiative that led to the immediate fixing of the impassable roads, thereby restoring the confidence of the citizens in government. The judiciary was also opened without delay , and that arm of government has since been working freely and independently, giving the citizens unlimited access to justice. Wike’s infrastructural revolution is novel, ranging from rehabilitation of abandoned General Hospitals and schools, to building of Ecumenical centre and Pleasure park among numerous roads and other projects at a time of declining earnings and recession.
“Besides, the Wike administration has given tremendous support to security agencies in Rivers State in his quest to guarantee protection of lives and property, thereby providing an enabling environment for people to live and do business in Rivers State”, Beke explained.

The chief executive officer of Eastern Wrought Iron Limited in Port Harcourt further hinted that things are now working in Rivers state because of the inclusive policy of Governor Wike administration, while recalling that the immediate past administration worked up to some point, but stopped working afterwards.
On the recent appointment and assignment portfolios to commissioners, Prince Charles Beke, who is the chairman of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, Rivers and Bayelsa states chapter, said that it remained the constitutional duty of the governor to freely choose those to work with.
“ The First time he chose technocrats and others. He dissolved the cabinet, reappointed some and added fresh blood. I congratulate him for taking his time to get the right hands for the respective offices. He should however avoid falling into the trap of slowing down governance and execution of projects as we enter into election year. His predecessor made that mistake: Governor Wike has done very well to justify his election in 2015, and his re-election in 2019”, Pastor Beke stated.
The seasoned politician however advised the governor to follow through on his human development initiative, which he describes as very apt, adding that its guided expansion would ensure that the purpose is achieved, to encourage those who worked and are still working for the success of the Governor Wike administration.
