(By Chris K.Amadi)-
The quality and utility of projects put in place by Governor Wike of Rivers State as he celebrates the third anniversary of his people oriented administration has been described as living legacies for posterity in the State.
This declaration was made by the Special Adviser to Governor Wike on Political Matters and Strategy, Chief Emeh Glory Emeh, while speaking at the sensitization and defection programme of the Grassroots Development Initiative, GDI, on Tuesday, May 15, at Elechi Amadi Polytechnic in Port Harcourt.
Chief Emeh, who is a legal practitioner, commended GDI and other Wike Support Groups such as Wike Solidarity Movement, Wike for Positive Change, Forum of Ex-Councillors among others for their unflinching support for Wike.
He also congratulated the defectors for the wise decision recalling that he foresaw the weaknesses in leadership and lack of organization in the All Progressives Congress, APC, over two years ago when he took what he described as a wise decision to join the flourishing and enterprising Wike Political family.
The former transport and aviation commissioner during the administration of former Governor Peter Odili congratulated Governor Wike for the numerous awards and the glory and honour he has brought to the state, particularly the award of ‘Global Power of Sports’ from International Sports Writers Association in far away Brussels in Belgium, the capital of the European Union.
Chief Emeh commended the people of Rivers State for their support for Governor Wike and urged them not to relent in their appreciation, just as he advised the defectors from the APC and other parties to go back to their local government areas and identify PDP and GDI leaders for proper integration into the party.
He further informed the defectors that they can benefit from Wike’s laudable programmes and loan schemes for the enterprising youths and women in the state, as well as from the all important football academy initiative which is in collaboration with Real Madrid football club of Spain.
The political strategist, who boldly declared for the umpteenth time that there is no alternative to Wike in 2019, urged Rivers people to guide their PVC jealously as it remains the weapon they can use to bury Buhari’s APC, even a life in 2019.
The Special Adviser however condemned in strong terms the invasion of Rivers State judiciary by elements of the APC, describing the action as not only barbaric but primitive. He said it was a shame for former Governor Rotimi Amaechi, instead of promoting and maintaining the ideals of hard work of the founding fathers of the state, allegedly chose the path of dishonor and shame to mobilize unsuspecting youths to cause such monumental destruction to one of the very important arms of democratic government.
“What Rotimi Amaechi has done to the judiciary is not strange because it would appear that it has become his past time to continuously undermine the judiciary even when he is a greater beneficiary of the existence of that arm of government”, Chief Emeh observed.
Also speaking, Hon. Kingsley Chindah, member representing Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, said he was giving the Federal Government eight months to fix the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa and commission it for use or they should be prepared to face the consequences. The federal lawmaker further said that he will be prepared to employ the machinery available to him at the national Assembly to ensure that the federal government is brought to book on the matter.
Hon. Chindah lauded the GDI for their contributions to the success of the Wike administration, boasting that GDI youths are not lazy and that Rivers State is peaceful, even as he warned against any plan to undermine the will of the electorate, who he said will decide the outcome of the 2019 election, and that Rivers people will resist and triumph over external influences.
He urged security operatives who are being paid with tax payers money to be professional in their jobs and stop serving as willing tools in the hands of persons with ignoble intentions, just as he called on the citizens to be prepared to vote out the APC in 2019 over non performance.
Earlier in his address, the Secretary General of GDI and PDP chairmanship candidate for Local Government elections in Ikwerre Local Government Area, Hon. Samuel Wanosike called for vigilance among the citizens to ensure that only their will prevails in the 2019 elections in the state.
Receiving the defectors, the President General of GDI, Hon. Martins Amaewhule, thanked them for embracing the PDP, assuring that the umbrella is large enough to accommodate everybody.
Also speaking, the Chairman, Caretaker Committee as well as Chairman of PDP in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Hon. Prince Noble Amadi and Hon. Chukwuemeka Aeron, welcomed the defectors to the PDP family, assuring them of access to opportunities that are open to all PDP members in the state.
